$10,000 and Love to Save a Dog
A SERIOUSLY ill dog has been given a new lease on life after a $10,000 bone transplant.
When the Wilson family of Beaumaris took their much loved but terminally ill dog Dougall to a vet to be put down yesterday, there were tears all round.
But tears turned to hope for another loved mutt named Max who had a life-saving surgical transplant yesterday with a bone taken from the late, great Dougall.
Max, an eight-year-old rottweiler, was diagnosed with bone cancer just a week ago.
With his owner keen for Max to avoid having a leg amputated, specialist veterinarian Charles Kuntz decided instead to remove the cancerous bone and replace the missing piece of tibia with a metal plate.
